The Memphis Inner City Rugby (MICR) scholarship will advance educational opportunities for MICR alumni by reducing the financial gap needed to pursue advanced educational opportunities. This scholarship opportunity is a reality thanks to the hard work and sacrifice made by MICR student-athletes, coaches, staff, board of directors, and supporters- past and present.

This scholarship is open to MICR alumni and current high school seniors.

All application materials are due Sunday, June 7th, 2026, at 11:59 pm CDT.

Applicants must:

• Have participated with MICR for at least 2 seasons

• Meet one of the following criteria:

  • Have applied and plan to enroll in an accredited institution of undergraduate secondary education for the 2026 - 2027 academic year (this includes 4-year, 2-year, technical, and vocational schools)

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited institution of secondary education for the 2026 – 2027 academic year (this includes 4-year, 2-year, technical, and vocational schools)

1. Complete the online application

2. Submit two 1- to 3-minute video-essays discussing:

   • Tell us about a time you overcame adversity or performed well under enormous pressure.

   • Tell us about a personal achievement that makes you proud.

3. Submit one 150-300 word written essay discussing:

   • What are your academic/professional goals for the next 5 years?

• Current College Students: Submit your Tuition Statement from the last year you attended college. This should include the amount you owed (or received) for the year.

• Submit your unofficial transcripts for the current academic institution that you attend

MICR will be awarding:

• A total of $6,000 across 3-4 applicants (each award will be between $1,000-$3,000)

• At least one high school student and one alumni will receive a scholarship, assuming there are multiple high school applicants

Awards will be based on strength of application and demonstrated financial need.

Each award is a one-time scholarship for the 2026 – 2027 academic year; however, eligible applicants are encouraged to re-apply to the scholarship every year

Scholarship checks will be sent directly to the winner’s academic institution and must be used toward tuition, room & board, fees, and/or books
